One Nation upper house Mark Latham says he is contemplating running in Michael Johnsen’s vacant lower house seat of Upper Hunter at next month’s by-election.

Mr Latham, the party’s leader in NSW, told Channel Seven news on Wednesday night that he was “thinking about it”.

The former federal Labor leader, who moved recently to Bar Beach, would have to resign from the Legislative Council to contest the seat.

The Nationals chose Clarence Town construction manager David Layzell on Wednesday night as their by-election candidate.
